When it was founded over 60 years ago, Relais 22 Milles served as a camp for lumberjacks. Its name at the time referred to the distance between it and Windigo Station, where loggers would set off on horseback to reach the camp: 22 miles… or just over 35 kilometers according to today’s measurements!
Le Relais 22 milles is a hub connecting the Outaouais, Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean, and Haute-Mauricie regions. In winter, for snowmobilers traveling on the Trans-Québec 83 trail, Relais 22 milles is still the only place to refuel between Saguenay and La Tuque. We are deeply grateful to Guy Tremblay and his team for all their efforts in the late 1980s to develop the Perce-Neige trails in the region.
